Hello reader, my name is Dev Reshma. I currently work as a tech support operator for a US based tech firm. Despite the fact that I now live in the heart of Silicon Valley, I still reminisce back to the days of my childhood, which were spent living in India. This is where I got the inspiration for the name “Funky Gandhi”.
As for how I arrived in the United States, the story starts around the time of my 13th birthday. My father had just received a promotion from his company which required him to transfer to the headquarters located in San Francisco, California. At first my father was hesitant about accepting this new position but after a while my parents both decided it was in the family’s best interest to move to the United States. While it was a difficult transition at first (I had never traveled outside of Bangalore, let alone India before) looking back now, I am certain my parents made the right decision.
Thinking back to my childhood, I realize my love for technology started from a very young age. I still remember the day my father brought home our family’s first personal computer. My brothers and I were so excited that we stayed up the entire night helping our dad set it up. I was only 7 years old at the time but I was fascinated by this technology.
From this point on I knew I had to learn everything I could about computers. This was my first step into the tech industry, and from there on my curiosity only grew. Luckily for me the emergence of laptops, smartphones, tablets and virtual reality was right around the corner. And thanks to my parents, I was right in the middle of it.
